AMII Appoints General Secretary
AMII appoints Michael Payne as first General Secretary
The Association of Medical Insurance Intermediaries (AMII) has appointed Michael Payne as its first General Secretary to help the Association manage the increasing number of projects in progress and in the pipeline, discharge the duties delegated to him by AMII's Executive Committee and to support the Chairman of the day.
Michael Payne, who is stepping down from his current role as an intermediary with the ADVO Group, is currently a member of the Executive Committee and AMII's Membership Secretary, positions he will also be resigning.
Commenting on the appointment, Mike Izzard, AMII's Chairman said, "As the Association continues to grow and the work load expands it was felt appointing a general secretary was a logical step to make.
"Michael is ideally suited for this role as he has 20 years experience within the PMI industry as a specialist PMI independent intermediary and understands the inner workings of the Association having been an Executive Committee member since 2002, membership secretary since 2006, and working closely on the 2007, 2008 and 2009 Exhibition and Conferences.
"He is widely respected within the PMI market and has built up a considerable list of contacts which will benefit AMII and the membership. He has also sat on various industry panels and won several industry awards."
The General Secretary will be responsible for ensuring all AMII projects are co-ordinated effectively, including working closely with the CII to introduce a professional examination for PMI. He will also ensure all administrative workings of the Association run smoothly, including regular communication with the membership.
